I AM JOSE FERON "DODONG" CACANANDO

I am a businessman and a farmer from Bukidnon. But before becoming a farmer, I was, first and foremost, an entrepreneur. While agriculture is the business I use to provide for my family, it’s my entrepreneurial skills that have allowed me to succeed in one of the most challenging industries—farming.

I own and operate Moriah Farms, Inc. and founded Semilya Sa Kinabuhi, a foundation where I share the business principles I use, hoping to help others become fruitful as well.

Before moving to Bukidnon in 1998, I worked in Makati for Hewlett-Packard as Assistant Country Manager for their Test and Measurement Division. When my family and I relocated, we had neither family nor friends in the area.

Moriah Farms began as a contract grower for Monterey Foods, Corp. Today, it’s a bio-diversified farm where we grow a variety of livestock and high-value crops, all naturally grown without antibiotics or pesticides. From 2002 to 2010, we became the largest lettuce supplier for McDonald’s and KFC in the country.

Our success led to several businessmen approaching me in 2004, asking how I managed the business. I shared how I used the Bible as a business manual and modeled the plant process to understand what makes a business profitable. This is when Semilya Sa Kinabuhi was born.

I believe that my experience in the corporate world, combined with what I’ve learned as a farmer, has made me a better entrepreneur. These experiences have uniquely positioned me to help others understand how to make the most of what they have through stewardship, creating a better future through entrepreneurship.

“My desire is that people would all experience breakthroughs in their lives and in their businesses. We hope to explain how God wants us to do business and how to develop the entrepreneur spirit in all of us. This does not necessarily aim to make everyone business owners, but desires to help everyone approach their work with the heart of an entrepreneur so that we can all succeed in life.”
